Introducing MeetingMate

An AI notepad for meetings that runs on your computer, keeps your own notes visibly yours, and never sends a bot to the call.

Today we're introducing MeetingMate, an AI notepad for meetings that runs on your Mac. You jot notes as usual while MeetingMate transcribes the meeting on your computer. When it ends, press Minutes and your rough notes become meeting minutes: a summary, the discussion by topic, decisions, action points and open questions. Your own points stay dark; anything added from the transcript is grey. No bot joins the call, and you don't need an account to start.

Why we built it

Write too much in a meeting and you stop listening; write too little and a week later nobody remembers who agreed to what. Full transcripts have everything, and nobody reads them. We wanted the minutes you would write if you had the time: starting from what you thought mattered, with the transcript filling in the detail.

What's in the first release

  • Live transcript. Call audio from any app (Zoom, Meet, Teams, Slack, FaceTime) and your microphone are recorded as separate tracks, so lines are tagged Me and Them. Whisper transcribes on your Mac in roughly 20-second chunks.
  • Minutes. Templates: Standard, 1:1, Standup, Customer call, Interview, or your own. Due dates appear only when someone said one. Download minutes as a Word document, the meeting as Markdown, or the recording as .m4a.
  • Chat. Ask about one meeting or all of them, or draft a follow-up email.
  • Calendar briefs. From macOS Calendar (so Google, Outlook and iCloud work without another sign-in): who's coming, what you discussed last time, what is still open.
  • Fix a word. Correct a misheard name once and MeetingMate remembers it.
  • MCP connector. Let Claude and other AI apps read your notes.

Local first, and where the cloud comes in

Audio is never uploaded, and notes, transcripts and the search index stay on your computer. Minutes and chat use a large cloud model by default, so the text of your notes and transcript for that request is sent to Ollama's cloud service. Offline, MeetingMate falls back to a small local model and tells you. A fully local setup is possible, with plainer, slower writing. The details are in Private by design.

Two ways to use MeetingMate

The Mac app keeps notes on one computer. Teams can run the shared browser service on their own host, with workspaces, member roles and optional organization sign-in.

Try it

You need an Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 14 or later. Download the .dmg, drag MeetingMate to Applications and open it. It runs in its own window and sets up Ollama and its models on first launch, so there is nothing to install by hand. macOS will ask for Screen & System Audio Recording and Microphone permission; the setup guide has the details. Then type a few notes in your next meeting and press Minutes.
